Sol og snø i første vårveka på Gullingen leirskule
mai 5, 2023
Tha last week of april, we’ve hade the pleasure of giving the 5.th graders from International School of Stavanger, good natur-experiences and learning and experiences for life. Even this late, we’ve had a full winter Camp-school, with a lot of smiley faces, doing crosscountry skiing down slopes and tracks, the whole week. The students have tried out ski-fun activities, shorter and longer hikes on skis, snowshoing, making camp-fire, map-orienteering and a lot more.
Thanks to you all for a Super week here at Gullingen leirskule.
Please read the students own log for the week, and check out the nice photos.
Log for week 17-2023. International school of Stavanger, 5. grade
Monday:
After getting all organized, we took a small trip to a nearby slope to practice skiing. For many of us, it was our first-time skiing, so it was a new experience for many. There was a lot of falling and perseverance. It was all about not giving up and trying something new.
Tuesday:
It was our first full day, which meant we got to enjoy the delicious Gullingen breakfast buffet. We also had our first lesson in the classroom about what to wear and bring on a hike, because today we were hiking. We had a hike on snowshoes and had an orienteering activity. Then we went skiing once again.
Wednesday:
We had a long hike on skis but this time it was farther into the beautiful Breiastøldalen Valley near the peak Gullingen. Once we reached our destination, we enjoyed a warm campfire and had a wonderful grill. After a tiring, but nice ski trip back to camp-school, we enjoyed a hot meatball dinner and some nice socializing time.
Thursday:
It was finally our last full day at Gullingen. We hiked into the valley again on skis. This time we were able to go higher and further than before. We all felt so accomplished around the warm, burning campfire. We returned to a yummy, warm chicken stew and rice awaiting us.
Friday:
Our final moments at Gullingen. We have all cherished every moment of this wonderful trip. Everyone learned so many new things and by the end of the week we all were better than at the start of the week. We enjoyed our last breakfast at Leirskule and got packed up to go home. Gullingen has made us feel more independent and prouder of ourselves, than we ever thought we could be.
